CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS

Continuing Education

Each Participant will receive a certificate of attendance stating your name, program title, instructor, date, location, your contact (or non-contact) hours, and sponsor. Continuing Education is a nationally recognized measure of educational accomplishments and is available from the following professional associations: 

  • Family Psychological Services, P.C. is approved by the Association for Play Therapy to offer continuing education specific to play therapy. APT Approved Provider 99-075. Family Psychological Services, P.C., maintains responsibility for the program.
  • Family Psychological Services is an NBCC-Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP) and may offer NBCC-approved clock hours for events that meet NBCC requirements. The ACEP solely is responsible for all aspects of the program.

Satisfactory Completion

 
Participants must have paid tuition fee, signed in each day, attended the entire seminar, completed an evaluation, and signed out each day, in order to receive a certificate of completion/attendance. Participants not fulfilling these requirements will not receive a certificate. Failure to attend the entire session will result in forfeiture of credit for the entire course. No exceptions will be made. Partial credit is not available.

Webinars

Attending the recorded webinar will be counted as non-contact hours. A passing score of 80% required on each quiz. Certificates are mailed approximately 14 days after completion of the individual webinar, or a whole series. Webinar Sessions Info.
Face-to-Face Play Therapy Training
The Reaching Children Through Play Therapy workshop offers 14 contact hours. The Intensive Training in Play Therapy workshop offers continuing education hours as follows:

45 Total Contact Hours, of which:

  • 10 Hours are Individual Supervision
  • 14 Hours are Group Supervision
  • 10 Hours are Play Therapy Sessions
  • 11 Hours are Academic Play Therapy, of which:
    • 4 Hours are Techniques and Methods
    • 4 Hours Theories
    • 4 Hours are Application

There also is a possibility of 4-hours of History and Development of Play Therapy if the group elects to do so. This would involve extra time and an additional fee of $70.

Case Consultation Meeting
The Case Consultation meeting offers continuing education hours as follows:

  • 40 Total Contact Hours, of which:
  • 10 Hours are Individual Supervision
  • 18 Hours are Group Supervision
  • 12 Hours are Academic Play Therapy, of which:
    • 4 Hours are Techniques and Methods
    • 4 Hours Theories
    • 4 Hours are Application
These continuing education hours may be utilized for the purpose of application toward Registered Play Therapist or Registered Play Therapist – Supervisor. Individuals seeking professional continuing education other than play therapy are responsible for forms from their respective disciplines. The instructor will assist in the completion of any necessary forms.

Specific To The Workshops and The Intensive Training

Specific To The Case Consultation

For purposes of application toward Registered Play Therapist or Registered Play Therapist - Supervisor, participants in the Case Consultation groups will receive ten hours of individual consultation, 12 hours of academic instruction, 18 hours of group consultation, and credit for up to 100 play therapy sessions at your site of employment.

Individuals seeking professional continuing education other than play therapy are responsible for forms from their respective disciplines.

The instructor will assist in completion of any necessary forms.
